CPOI chapter
A CPOI university chapter involves students and faculty members from different departments to include undergraduate up to post graduate programs. The purpose of this chapter is to generate interest in social awareness, health issues through education and community development outreach programs by providing students opportunities to:
1.Share ideas and enthusiasm with fellow students and faculty from any relevant department on campus
2.Explore career opportunities
3.Make contacts that will last a lifetime
4.Develop leadership skills
CPOI had opportunities to partner with University of Houston’s SLICE (Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement) and share about its vision and mission during its Community Service Fair. Here is a link to one of their newsletter.
CPOI encourages interdisciplinary participation by students from many departments on campus. The activities of student chapters can include lunch discussions about giving back to the comminuty, spending time at orphanages, old age homes, volunteering at hospitals, travel oppurtuinities to emerging countries, teaching English as secondary language to foreign students and immigrants.
