She conducts large scale Health screenings in Houston, Texas for Hepatitis, Diabetes, cholesterol etc. She is also involved in community development and education, to include the Bhutanese refugee community, in Houston, Texas. She enjoys volunteering her time at the local temples and mosques, as a physician. She is a public speaker for different organizations including churches, the Dalith organizations, the Rotary, schools and Universities in the U.S, Mumbai, India, Haiti, and also at the International Educational and Medical summit for Haiti, in Montreal Canada. She has been recognized as a “Top Worldwide Leader” in healthcare by the International Association of Healthcare Providers. In addition to this, she has been awarded “The Master Physician” and “The Most Outstanding Gastroenterologist” of the American Academy of Gastroenterology by the American Board of Gastroenterology in the year 2011. The Most Reverend Dr. Dale Climie is the Archbishop of Western Province, Asia And Military Dioceses – The Conservative Anglican Church of North America. While attending Bethel Seminary, Dr. Climie worked as a Biomedical Technician, ultimately earning his Master rating as a Biomedical Engineer and gaining practical experience in hospital operations. Several years later, he was contacted by the Pyxis Corporation, headquartered in Houston, Texas. Pyxis was developing a line of equipment that would control the flow and distribution of pharmaceuticals throughout hospitals and they initially needed Dr. Climie’s experience in providing service for their equipment within the healthcare industry. Climie not only responded by training a cadre of Biomedical Technicians which would set the standard of excellence for customer service in the United States but, his engineering expertise assisted in the development of new products for the company. Bill Simmons is CEO of St Luke’s Patients Medical Center in Pasadena ,Texas. Bill has over 35 years of extensive experience in healthcare. His leadership roles have included Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at nine Texas Hospitals. He has served in positions at both for profit and not for profit facilities. In addition to a variety of roles, he was also instrumental in helping develop a hospital from the planning stage to actual operation. Bill is active in his community and is currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. Bill has been married to his wife Cindy for 35 years and has 3 grown daughters and 5 grandchildren.
Charles Vethan is the managing shareholder of The Vethan Law Firm, P.C., a boutique commercial and intellectual property law firm with offices in Houston and San Antonio, Texas. Charles was born in Sri Lanka, and grew up in Alberta, Canada. He received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada. After a brief stint working for the TD Bank, in oil and gas related financing, he relocated to the United States, and completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Southern Methodist University. Charles and his wife, Chryshanthi Vethan, live in Houston, Texas, and recently celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary. Dr. Albert F. Furtado is a general dentist with extensive experience and management skills in setting up clinics and practicing dentistry. Dr. Samuel Zalanga is Professor of Sociology at Bethel University, St. Paul, Minnesota. He is currently the associate editor for Africa for the Journal of Third World Studies. His broad area of scholarly interest and specialization is “Development Studies and Social Change.” He has written several books. Some of which are Religion, Economic Development, and Cultural Change: The Contradictory Role of Pentecostal Christianity in Sub-Saharan Africa. He currently teaches the following undergraduate courses: Religion in Society, Sociology of Third World Development, Social Responsibility in the Marketplace, Social Theory, Social Justice and Christian Responsibility, Social Change and Community Development, and Social Entrepreneurship. He also teaches the following graduate level courses: Leadership in Diverse Cultures, and Introduction to Research. Zalanga was born in Bauchi State and he attended a Teacher Training College before completing his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Sociology at Bayero University Kano, and University of Jos respectively in Nigeria, West Africa. Prior to his arrival in the U.S., he was a lecturer at Bauchi State Polytechnic, Bauchi, NIgeria. His graduate education in the U.S. was funded by a fellowship from the MacArthur Foundation through the MacArthur Scholars’ Fellowship Program at the University of Minnesota, where he completed his Ph.D. in Sociology in May, 2000.

Chief Kenneth R. Lukins (USCG, Retired) is the CEO and President of Lukins & Associates, LLC Chief Lukins completed a twenty- year career with the U.S. Coast Guard (1977-1999, with a one year break of service), gaining invaluable expertise in training, oil and hazardous materials response, law enforcement, safety, occupational safety and health, drug enforcement, maritime security, anti-terrorism, emergency response and hazardous materials operations. He served as senior instructor for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Gulf Strike Team and at the National Strike Force Coordination Center, where he developed and implemented the Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO) verification program for the National Strike Force. After retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard, Chief Lukins provided consultancy services to the government of France during the T/S ERICA oil spill off the coast of Breast, France in January of 2000, and the government of Turkey during the Maltese tanker oil spill off the coast of Istanbul, Turkey, also in January of 2000. He served as the Incident Command for a major chemical explosion and fire in Austin, Texas in 1999. Throughout his professional career, Chief Lukins has been involved in humanitarian operations one of them is in Juneau Alaska and he served as President of the Board of Directors for United Way of Southeast Alaska, and as President of the Chief Petty Officers’ Association. During this time period, he led numerous projects and fundraising events to help less fortunate throughout Southeast Alaska which benefited the numerous non-profit organizations through Southeast Alaska, to include numerous projects he and his late wife Leah “Diane” worked to better the lives of senior citizens. The other one is at Haiti after the devastating earthquake of 2010.
Dr.Anil Dara is an Internal Medicine specialist in private practice in Humble Texas since 1996. Dr.Dara earned his M.B.B.S (MD) from Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad, AP,India. After graduation he worked in rural Iran for a short while before going to the U.K where he trained as a General Surgeon and earned his FRCS thus gaining the prestigious Fellowship to The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr. Dara then immigrated to the USA and completed a Residency in Internal Medicine in Rochester NY, followed by a year of Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Tulane University in New Orleans before settling into private practice in Internal Medicine in Texas. Dr.Dara’s practice of medicine is driven by the simple motto of compassionate care and exceptional service with the most up to date evidence based medicine for ALL. His passion for teaching doctors in training has led him to mentor and teach medical students from Baylor College of Medicine, UT Houston and UT MB Galveston. He has been awarded honorary Assistant Professor positions at both Baylor College of Medicine and UT Houston. Dr.Dara has held several leadership positions at Memorial Hermann Hospital Northeast. He is currently serving his second term as The Chief of Medical Staff. He therefore is a member of the Memorial Hermann Hospital System Board and the Division Quality committee. He has served as Chair of the Dept. of Medicine, Chair of the Credentials Committee and Chair of the P&T committee. He served on the Memorial Hermann System Bylaws Ad-hoc committee to draft system wide bylaws. Dr.Dara is also the founding member, managing partner and chairman of the Board of ICON LTAC HOSPITAL in Humble Texas. Dr.Dara has a keen interest in developing and successfully implementing health care projects for the economical and efficient delivery of advanced health care to all members of the community. Dr.Dara is married to Dr.Bina Elizabeth Dara, an Assistant Professor in the Dept. Of Anesthesiology, Baylor College of Medicine, who works at The Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. They are blessed with three daughters Natasha, Karishma and Meghna. Dr. G. Michael Vincent, a tenured professor, at the University of Utah, has had the privilege of being an educator, an academician and a researcher while being a husband, father and a grandparent as well. He brings his 50 plus years of broad experience and wisdom of patient care, medical administration, teaching and research to CPOI. He is the founder of the “Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS) Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 charity, dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children and young adults, genetically predisposed to sudden death. His cardiology practice and research interests involve SADS , the long QT syndrome, being the first described; defining the clinical course, the molecular genetics and subsequently identified numerous other inherited arrhythmias as well. He has authored numerous articles, publications, book chapters, abstract etc. during his long career. He currently serves as a volunteer physician for the LDS church, providing consultation and guidance regarding the medical care if the 60,000 missionaries throughout the world. In addition to his U of U faculty position since the early 70’s, he Chaired the LDSH Department of Medicine and simultaneously, held the Directorship of the graduate training medical education program for 30yrs, bringing the teaching and research programs closer together.
He is the recipient of numerous awards in all three arenas, including the “American heart Association Citation for International Service”, “Researcher of the Year” on two occasions; numerous LDS hospital “Medical Staff Award”s, “The Gold Caduceus Award” for “Outstanding Achievement”, “The Golden Apple Teaching Award” on numerous occasions at the U of U and at the LDSH. During his student years, he was elected as a member of the “Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society” and is the recipient of the “Paul Wintrobe Memorial Award” as the “Outstanding Medical School Graduate”, from the University of Utah. His postgraduate training was at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, on the Osler medical service; followed by his postgraduate fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins. He completed his post graduate training as the Chief Medical Resident at the U of U, prior to being invited to be on the faculty in the department of medicine, division of cardiology.
Dr Raju Bakka, MBBS, M.S.,FAIS, FMAS is a General & Laparoscopic Surgeon. He currently works in both private practice and as an educator/academician and brings years of training, teaching and experience to CPOI. He is a Professor of General Surgery at The Osmania Medical College & The Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. He received his MBBS from the Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad and M.S. (General Surgery), from the Gandhi Medical College Hyderabad. His passion to serve and to give, resulted in his appointment at a very young age, as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the both the Government Medical College, in Anantapur and at the Gandhi Medical College Hyderabad over a decade. During this time he had earned a “Fellowship” by the Associations of Surgeons of India, Chennai and also by the Association of Minimal access of surgeons of India, Coimbatore. Despite his busy schedule, he serves in various capacities of leadership positions both in India and abroad. He is the Founder and President of a non-profit organization, Anandam Medical & Education Society (AMES). . He further enjoys educating his fellow colleagues by conducting conferences, Seminars, by providing Continued Medical Education Programs at Regional, National and International platforms. He played a vital role in “Aarogya Sree scheme” a health insurance program and a Pilot Health Project in Andhra Pradesh, India.
